Our group is
run by volunteers.

Two ways to help: on the ground with a section team, or behind the scenes on our Trustee Board. Both are essential, both are welcoming, no experience required.

— FAQ

Questions?

Most parents ask us the same handful of things. If yours isn't here, drop us an email.

How much does it cost?
We charge £17.50 monthly to cover activities, materials and our own HQ bills and upkeep — kept as low as possible. Uniform can often be second-hand. Cost should never be a barrier; talk to us.
When can my child start?
Young people can join from age 6. Places are limited, so we run a waiting list and invite families along when a space opens in the right section.
Do you go camping?
Yes — Cubs, Scouts and Explorers all have opportunities to camp and stay away. Beavers enjoy outdoor evenings and days out as they grow into overnight adventures.
Is Scouting religious?
Scouting is open to all. Young people make a Promise that can reflect their own beliefs, including a non-religious wording. Everyone is welcome.
Can I volunteer if I can't commit every week?
Absolutely. Occasional volunteers, event/camp support and Trustee Board roles are all valuable. Tell us what time you can give and we will find a fit.
Where exactly do you meet?
At the 4th Farnworth Scout Hut on Devon Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Bolton BL4 7PY — just off the A666 near Moses Gate Country Park.
